Join us for an evening with Asheville's Okapi with special local guests Crayons! Doors 7, show 8PM. $10 at the door, please.About Okapi: Okapi is an Asheville, NC-based duo composed of Scott Mitchell Gorski (Upright Bass, Voice) and Lindsey Paige Miller (Cello). Hailing from differing musical backgrounds but sharing a passion for unique approaches to songwriting, craftsmanship, and structure, they began formulating candid, cathartic, and intentionally intricate orchestrations rooted in honesty and rawness. With evocative works abundant with lyrical paintings, they present ideas both intimately and aggressively, which challenge perceptions that stimulate universal confrontations with our absurd reality, while also promoting consciousness, healthy growth, and individual empowerment. They’ve toured nationally, performed as part of many festivals including the experimental Big Ears Festival, and have been featured in The Wire as part of their staff-curated CD compilation, "The Wire Tapper".
About Crayons: "Crayons joins the talents of accomplished poet Cass Donish and local folk stalwart Ryan Pale. Early returns are strong, with the duo delivering harmonies so haunting they feel heavenly, their voices decorating songs with feet are covered in the soil of earthly trouble. These early, country-tinged tracks form a soundtrack to all the road trip memories that make you smile and flinch." – Aarik Danielsen
