Join us for “Oh That Glorious Wisconsin Wilderness! John Muir’s Conservation Legacy,” presented by Matt Blessing at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, in room 170 of the Trainer Natural Resources building on the UW-Stevens Point Campus. The program will explore how John Muir’s formative years in Wisconsin shaped his vision as a leading voice for wilderness preservation and what lessons his experiences in wild nature offer today.Blessing is a retired archivist with the Wisconsin Historical Society. He studied environmental history at UW-Stevens Point and spent 30 years working with Marquette University Libraries and the Wisconsin Historical Society. In retirement, he continues to research conservation history and publish in The Wisconsin Magazine of History, Silent Sports and The Leopold Outlook.
This event is part of the Voices of Conservation in Wisconsin’s History Spring Seminar Series, hosted by the Wisconsin Center for Wildlife. The series highlights influential figures and ideas that have shaped conservation in Wisconsin and beyond. All events are free and open to the public and live-streamed on CNR's YouTube Channel.
