Offutt Patriot Day
Monday, September 11
Remember the sacrifice. Honor the courage. Celebrate the recovery. Mark the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with the Offutt Patriot Run & Memorial Stair Climb.
FREE registration for both events. Open to all DoD IDs. All ages welcome.
Patriot Run
Run or walk 2 laps around the Offutt Parade Grounds. Squadrons are encouraged to participate as a group carrying their guidon.
Memorial activities will include:
- Presentation of Colors by the Offutt Honor Guard
- National Anthem
- A moment of silence from the Offutt Chapel
- Opening remarks from 55th Wing Leadership
Check in will start at the Parade Grounds at 6 a.m. Memorial activities will begin at 6:45 a.m. Running/walking will start at 7 a.m.
Memorial Stair Climb
Honor the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice. Symbolically complete their heroic journey to save others by climbing the equivalent of 110 stories of the World Trade Center.
Climbers will complete 2,200 steps on a stepmill. Participants can choose to wear a 50 lb ruck to simulate firefighting gear.
Stepmills are limited. Climbs will run in 45 minute time blocks, with 16 climbers per flight. Check in at 8:45 a.m. in the Offutt Field House to be assigned a time. Climbing will start at 9 a.m.
Anyone who completes the climb will earn a commemorative 9/11 challenge coin.
