The American Rover will take passengers down the Elizabeth River and into the Harbor. Learn about the port’s history and current offshore wind operations, view local wildlife, and make connections with other professionals in the industry. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow Virginia-based offshore wind professionals in the lead up to the 2025 International Partnering Forum (IPF), taking place April 28-May 1in Virginia Beach. View complete details below.

The Norfolk Harbor Boat Tour is hosted by Oceantic Network and the City of Virginia Beach.

What can I expect to see on the tour?

While cruising, lend a hand setting the sails, take a turn at the helm, or simply sit back and enjoy the cruise as the captain points out the highlights of the Harbor. Catch a glimpse of downtown Norfolk and Portsmouth skylines, Battleship Wisconsin, private shipyards, and more. We will pass the Portsmouth Marine Terminal (PMT), home of Dominio Energy’s staging area. The monopiles and other major components of turbines are brought here from Europe and then shipped out to their installation locations. Each monopile is unique, built specifically for the location where they will be installed. We will also get a glimpse of the Fairwinds Landing where the Operations and Maintenance port for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project is going to be built.

You also might see navy ships, tugboats, mega-yachts, and the occasional dolphin! Hear history and fun facts during the first hour on the boat and enjoy the tranquility of sailing during the second hour. Whether you’re a Norfolk local or visiting for the first time, each participant will learn something new about the area on this unique tou
