WELCOME TO FIGHT LIKE A GIRL CAMPAIGN AND COURSES!

fight like a girl workshops and courses were set up in 2016 By SIfu Della O'Sullivan (a martial arts master and survivor of violence)

F.L.A.G is a comprehensive package on all things women empowerment and self-protection training. we aim to cover all areas:

  • thoery on red flags, and pointers to see ahead of situations
  • Chi-Kung - (Helps regulate breathing)
  • Mentality, psychology and how to tackle freezing
  • training - everything that is taught has to be simple, direct, effective and require little or no force, the techniques taught are so that you can use perpertraitor force againse them.
  • meditaion

Della spent 17 years training and teaching and became one of the highest ranking females in her dicipline.

In 2016 she was interviewed on BBC about her pending master grade where she told her reason for outsourcing martial arts to begin with, and told of her history with a violent stalker.

From that day, women across the country contated Della to ask if she has classes for women, and the next month Della ran her first Fight Like A Girl workshop, which was packed with women, some who had travelled across the coutnry to be ther.

Della soon put together a team, and decided to make these workshops and courses more regular.

Every workshop has Bede House womens domestic violencd services present to offer support, give key tips on relationsip red flags, and the F.L.A.G team support their charity with every event.

The Aim of F.L.A.G

To allow a safe space for all women to attend. Like Della, many have expressed feeling intimidated at the thought of signing up to a regualr martial arts Class, and many don not know if they are ready to commit to regular training, so the workshops are an introduction to further training and to allow all women to feel comfortable to just walk in the door.

The 5 week courses have 3 volumes!

Volume 1 will cover:

Every week the course will add more strikes and practice of strikes and reflex training & 10 mins practice on previous weeks material freely. for 30 mins as well as focus on a new topic. Each class will begin with chi-kung and end with a grounding meditation.

Week 1 - strike defence – most common strikes – addressing many different variations and scenarios. (pushes, slaps, punches)

Week 2 - ANTI GRABS (arms and body) (2 levels of arm)– addressing many different variations and scenarios

Week 3 - ANTI GRABS – HAIR & CHOKES – addressing many different scenarios and variations

Week 4 - DEFENCE FROM FLOOR (LEVEL 1 program) – attacker standing you are on the floor, attacker advancing trying to kick, pull, get between legs, strike with hands from close position, how to prevent /get up/defend/escape safely.

Week 5 - Test all topics in scenario-based drills.

Every class will aim to develop reflexes, and work on strikes as well as the new group of knowledge.

Every week the class will end with meditaion by Elumi Yoga.
