Join us for a solo recital featuring Canadian pianist Melody Sham, known for her musicality and captivating playing. Currently pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia under Dr. David Fung, Melody has received numerous accolades, including a bronze medal at the 2023 Vancouver International Music Competition and First Prize at the 2024 Vancouver International Music Festival, as well as a Gold Medal in Chamber Music at the 2024 Saint-Saëns International Music Competition. Her dedication to her craft is highlighted by various scholarships, including the Faculty of Arts Graduate Award and the Johann Strauss Foundation Scholarship. Melody's musical journey has taken her to prestigious festivals across Europe, Asia, and North America, where she has performed alongside notable musicians, including collaborations at AlpenKammerMusik. In the upcoming season, she will embark on a tour in China, showcasing her talents through solo and chamber recitals.
In addition to her performances, Melody is committed to community engagement. She co-founded the Golden Ears Chamberfest, which enjoyed a successful 2024 season with three sold-out concerts featuring Fazioli pianos. She has also organized concerts under Western University's CLEE project. This December, Melody will perform in Markham, a place she calls her second home. Her program will explore works by Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Messiaen, Schumann, and Scriabin. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience her musical journey!
