Purnakala School of Indian Art is delighted to bring in-person traditional Indian art workshops to the Seattle community! ___________
We are beginning Module 2 on Narrative Scroll paintings of India with the first workshop on Odisha Pattachitra on Saturday, Feb 7th, 2-5pm at Redmond Senior and Community Center.
We will be creating a beautiful 9*12 inch painting of a woman on a Linen cloth panel.
In this workshop we will learn about:
- The history and cultural ethos of Odisha Pattachitra, including it’s deep connection to temple traditions and devotional storytelling
- Foundational pattern design and compositional structure for creating an Odisha Pattachitra image
- Brushwork and linework techniques specific to rendering a beautiful Odissi Pattachitra image
- Preparation of a traditional patta (cloth surface) using modern, accessible materials; Learn to prepare and paint on a Linen cloth panel.
