🎃🌕 Spooky Full Moon Hike – Elfin Forest & Los Cielos Preserve 🌕🎃
Join us for a hauntingly fun adventure this Halloween! We'll gather in the Los Cielos Preserve and hike together through the eerie trails, winding our way up to the Olivenhain Reservoir to soak in the magical glow of the full moon reflecting on the water.
Along the way, we’ll share local lore and spooky stories that have haunted the area for generations… if you dare! 👻 But the fun doesn’t stop there—you’re invited to tell your own tales of mysterious happenings, ghostly sightings, or just share a chilling story from the trail.
Bring your courage, headlamps, and friends for an unforgettable night of adventure, moonlight, and spine-tingling tales. Are you brave enough to join?
What is Camp Bum? Camp Bum was created in 2016 as a way to connect nature-minded individuals and families together. While living and working in Yosemite, the Camp Bum founders enjoyed an adventurous and nature-focused lifestyle with their children. Not wanting to abandon the lifestyle when they returned to San Diego, they started organizing Full Moon Hikes to gather outdoorsy parents, moon lovers, and hikers alike to create a fun outdoor community.
Today, Camp Bum continues to grow while offering more exciting ways to get outside and have fun doing so. We look forward to the future and bringing the outdoors to more individuals.

What is the Harvest Moon? For several evenings, the Moon rises very soon after the Sun sets, resulting in an abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening. Traditionally, this extra light aided farmers and crews in harvesting their summer-grown crops. Hence, it’s called the “Harvest” Moon! (source: Farmers Almanac)
Why We Ask for Your Support? Every donation helps keep Camp Bum alive and thriving. Your contributions help support the costs of running our events, growing our community, and inspiring more people to get outdoors. We’re working to create a sustainable brand that gives back and supports nature conservation, children-focused charities, and educating future generations about the importance of protecting our open spaces. Our hikes are more than just walks under the moon – they’re an invitation to appreciate the natural places we still have, so we don’t lose them to overdevelopment. You can also support our mission by purchasing our nature-inspired merchandise, where every item helps fuel our cause. Together, we can keep the trails open, the moonlit hikes going, and our shared wild spaces protected for years to come (view merch here).
