WHAT IS A REQUEST DANCE?:
Request Dances and Events are designed to bring together all the different ages, dance styles and dance communities and fusing them together for an evening of great music, dancing, friendships, and fun. This is a dance unlike any other. As a patron, you are able to "Request" via text to the DJ the "type" of dance you want to dance. ("Cha-Cha, Salsa, West Coast Swing, Blues, Tango, Waltz, etc.") A song with a variant tempo suited for that requested dance, as well as several other dance styles, will be played. This way the requester gets to dance the dance they requested, and those that don't know how, or choose not to dance the requested style can still dance to the song. This allows for several dance styles to be danced to the same music selection. This way everyone gets more dances and more fun!

HOW IT WORKS:
Text the DJ the type of dance you would like to dance to. This puts it in cue. The current or "Now Playing" dance is displayed from a projector along with a list of dances that go well with the current song playing. You will also see what dance style(s) is coming "Up Next" as well as what is "In The Hole" (After "Up Next"). This gives you a chance to see, prepare, and find your partner ahead of time so you don't miss half the song scrambling to find a partner when that Foxtrot you requested comes up.
A FUN PLACE TO TRY, PRACTICE AND LEARN:
Don't know all the different dances? That is okay! Come take the 1-hour lesson (8:00pm-9:00pm) that is included with your dance admission before the dance. (Top instructors in many styles from all over the valley will be rotating through and teaching at our dances and events.) At the event there are several dance instructors that can easily be recognized by the colored wrist band they will be wearing. Ask any of them and they will be happy to dance with you or show you a few moves. This is a fun, low-pressure and safe place to try all other dance styles, connect with other dance communities and have a great time trying out new dances you may not have tried before or done in a long time. You will see Nightclub Two-Step, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Rumba, West Coast Swing, Blues, Tango, and others being danced at the same time to the same song! You are sure to have a great time all night long!
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Request Dances and Events are not associated with any particular community, or dance studio. Students and teachers from ALL area studios and schools are encouraged and welcome. All ages, races, religions, single or marital statuses, sizes, shapes, colors or otherwise with a desire to partner dance are welcome. (We love small children, but please leave them home with a sitter.) Ballroom Dancers, Latin and Salsa Dancers, Swing Dancers, Country Dancers, Blues, Dancers, Tango Dancers, Club Dancers and more!!! So share this with your club, community, your tribe, your friends, family, etc.
WHEN & HOW MUCH?
We want to encourage a good Lead/Follow ratio (as hard as that is) so the price is $15 per person or $25 per Lead/Follow couple. Pay at the door. Cash is King, but we can take cards or Venmo as well. So invite your friends! This includes the cost of admission along with the 1-hour dance instruction before the dance. Occasionally we may have themed special events where the price may be slightly higher to cover the event or floor shows, entertainment, etc. Always check the latest or upcoming event for themes, dates, times, and other information.
OTHER INFO:
Aside from special themed events, we do not have a current dress code policy other than to wear clothes you can comfortably dance in. Please keep in mind that this is a dance, and that proper dance etiquette and common public decency should be exercised. Your consideration of personal hygiene, attire and grooming will be appreciated by those you will be dancing with. Judgement-Free acceptance and toleration for all shapes, sizes, ages, religions, life-styles and the likes are welcome and shaming and bullying will not be tolerated. Dance doesn't discriminate and neither should you. Come help us make this the most fun dance for ALL styles!
