Activity Level 1: EasyLocation: Thornburg Conservation Park, Thornburg
Guide: Dr. Abby
Each month The Women's Adventure Club offers a gentle, relaxed hike. We keep these hikes under three miles with minimal elevation gain and a slower, more relaxed pace. These hikes are for women who are interested in spending time in nature without covering a lot of ground. Maybe you're new to hiking, recovering from a small injury, or wanting to take it easy. This monthly hiking series is for you!
Thornburg Conservation Park is a 28-acre park along Chartier's Creek, site of a former golf course. It is now a park available for hiking, birding, cross-country skiing, and more! For this relaxed hike, we'll go about 3.2 miles and just 140 feet of elevation skirting along Chartier's Creek for an out and back trail. This peaceful trail gives you a front-row seat (or hike!) to water birds such as ducks and geese, some riding the rapids of the creek, as well as deer and other animals heading to the creek for a drink. You'll see that this is a great trail for wildflowers across the seasons, but for fall it is a scenic place to check out the leaves changing color, acorns and black walnuts falling, and more.
Event details, including meeting location, suggested gear, and other pertinent info will be sent via email to registered participants.
