It's spooky season, and do we have a book for you! The Reformatory by Tananarive Due is a historical fiction book you'll definitely want to read with us this month. As if the 1950s Jim Crow South wasn't terrifying enough, 12-year old Robbie Stephens Jr. is sent to a reformatory, the Gracetown School for Boys, for (very justifiably) kicking the son of a big-time landowner in town that went after his sister, Gloria. Thing is, Robbie sees haints (that's ghosts to everyone not living in the South), and now he is seeing the haints of boys that have gone missing at the reformatory. The reformatory is a dangerous place, and if the hints the haints are giving are correct, it is deadly. As Robbie tries to survive, Gloria works to get him out before the worst happens. If you are looking for a yarn to pair with this book, check out our very own hand-dyed Leviathan Fibres BFL Chunky in Non-Compliant! It works up beautifully soft, and this orange is the perfect color for the season.
