OCTOBER NOON-TEN CONCERTS AT ST. LUKE’SOur October Noon-Ten Concert series continues on October 22nd with The Horn Society of the Carolinas.
The Horn Society of the Carolinas was formed in February 2009 after a local debut of a fabulous piece written for 8 horns. Sixteen players were present for that performance and the group has enjoyed 2 rehearsals per month ever since with 6 -10 amateur and professional players from the North and South Carolina area.
The HSoC has performed at local Scottish Games, Octoberfests and regional SE Horn Workshops. Community outreach has included several student horn workshops that encompassed a full day of coaching, small ensemble work and mass choir opportunities for 7th - 12th grade North and South Carolina horn students.
Their Oct. 22 program will include pieces with different flavors. The Horns' 4 octave range allows us almost endless access to music ranging from transcriptions to original Horn pieces. The audience will hear Handel to Sousa to Rodgers & Hammerstein and perhaps a little barbershop mixed in as well.
All are welcome! The concerts are free, with free-will offering opportunities.
