Jess Cole of the Louisiana Wild Society will present our October program on re-wilding our landscapes. Rewilding a yard, garden, or other space involves establishing native plants and replacing existing plants—that often serve very little purpose for pollinators or wildlife—with hugely beneficial natives. She'll also talk about the myriad ways to encourage wildlife and biodiversity back into our yards and public spaces. The Louisiana Wild Society is a new local non-profit organization here in Baton Rouge that is working to protect and regenerate our shared space through the use of plants that nourish our complex living systems and community while we celebrate a deeper relationship with the natural world. Their mission is to create conversation, share in experiences, and take part in beautification projects that create rich habitats that provide for all living creatures now and for those who will come after us... and native plant diversity does the heavy lifting for us! They encourage landscape stewardship and educate people how to do that in their own environments and everyday lives.
As always, visitors and guests are welcome. Admission is free for HSABR members, $5 for all others. Please bring small bills if possible.
