Join us this Sunday for a film themed costume contest and to hear a presentation from one of our own, Louis Lee!A Baby Boomer and journalism enthusiast, Lee joined the Navy during his junior year of high school, later married his high school sweetheart, and started a family with two daughters and a son.
Following his naval service, he navigated various careers, including graphic design, before pursuing a degree in media production and journalism. He then joined a local TV station in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he worked as a multifaceted journalist, covering features, hard news, and spot news, including a fatal hot air balloon crash, a presidential interview, and several hurricanes.
In 1991, he relocated to the Tennessee Valley, where he primarily worked as a bureau chief at WDEF-TV, telling the stories of the tri-state region's people across a five-county area. He also freelanced, shooting sporting events for national networks and producing educational films, which broadened his filming expertise.
After leaving TV news, he transitioned to documentary work, creating videos for commercial, non-profit, and educational clients as a contract artist.
Semi-retired, he was invited by a former TV colleague to teach the art of storytelling, which he had refined over decades.
