Dance, connect, and celebrate in a vibrant, clear-minded space with incredible DJs, immersive lighting, and pure, high-energy movement.
About this Event

Welcome to Dance Tribe, where the energy of nightclub culture meets the clarity of a sober dance floor.

This is not ecstatic dance. This is not a typical club night. This is a space where we come together to dance, connect, and celebrate, free from alcohol and substances.

With incredible DJs, immersive lighting, and a vibrant atmosphere, Dance Tribe is about pure movement, music, and community. It’s a place where you can let loose, meet like-minded people, and experience the joy of dance in a fun, safe, and sustainable way.

💃 🕺 Why we dance

For years, dancers have found joy in movement. Whether in clubs, at festivals, or under the stars in nature. But what truly happens when people dance together?

Entrainment, a phenomenon studied in music therapy, reveals how heartbeats synchronize with the rhythm of the music and the movements of those around them. This explains why dancefloor moments feel so deeply connective. Minutes turn into hours as breath, heartbeat, and body movements align with the beat, creating a powerful sense of unity.

The science of entrainment explores how auditory rhythmic patterns influence motor responses, a key concept in neurologic music therapy. This phenomenon, known as rhythmic entrainment, allows movements to synchronize naturally with music, as seen in dancing, drumming, and other musical activities.

Who this event is for:

Dance Tribe is for anyone who loves to dance and connect. Whether a seasoned dancefloor enthusiast or someone looking for a fresh way to enjoy music and movement, this space offers an uplifting and sustainable approach to nightlife.

For those seeking more meaningful connections beyond the usual clubbing experience, Dance Tribe provides an opportunity to engage with music, community, and self-expression on a deeper level, without the addition of alcohol or substances.

Whether you're a festival lover, a longtime club-goer ready for a new kind of night out, a conscious movement enthusiast, or simply someone who thrives on the energy of a dancefloor, this space is designed to be welcoming, vibrant, and nourishing.

Dance Tribe Sundays is the perfect way to move, connect, and start the week feeling refreshed and inspired.

What to expect:

Arrival – Settle in, get comfortable, and enjoy delicious snacks while soaking in the warm-up DJ set.

Opening Circle – A short welcome to set intentions, allowing connection with the group, and tune into the space.

Dance Journey Begins – The main DJ sets take over, guiding you through deep grooves, euphoric highs, and full-bodied movement. Let loose, feel the bass, and dance like nobody's watching.

Sound Healing & Relaxation – Wind down with soothing sounds, allowing your body to integrate the energy of the dance.

Closing Circle – A space to reflect, share, and integrate the experience before transitioning back into daily life.

Official Close 6:00pm – For those who wish to stay, enjoy tea and conversation with your Dance Tribe. Some may head out afterward, while others may simply float home, ready to embrace the week ahead.

Dancing is a powerful way to shake off stress and boost your mood with high-vibe movement. It strengthens bonds with others through music and dance, creating a deep sense of connection. The freedom of movement brings pure joy, while the experience leaves you feeling refreshed, present, and grounded. As rhythm, breath, and movement awaken the body, a sense of vitality and upliftment emerges. Beyond the dance floor, it contributes to overall physical and mental well-being, serving as one of the best full-body workouts. The energy and inspiration from the experience can carry into the week ahead, bringing a renewed sense of enthusiasm and clarity.

Warm-Up Guest DJ - California Sunshine

California Sunshine is a long-time dance floor warrior who has evolved from the dancefloor to behind the decks, with her carrying an unstoppable love for community, movement, and connection through music.
California Sunshine is pure dance-floor magic - a radiant force who brings the warmth of the California sun all the way from the San Francisco Bay Area to Australia’s underground. Behind the decks she weaves underground house grooves with bright, feel-good energy, creating an atmosphere that pulses with joy, freedom, and unity.
Her sets are eclectic and playful, drawing from the sounds she loves and stitching them into cheeky journeys that keep bodies moving and smiles wide. More than just music, she brings people together - her unstoppable love for community and connection shines through every beat.
California Sunshine embodies the spirit of underground culture - inclusive, vibrant, and unafraid to push boundaries - lighting up dance floors with warmth, mischief, and a sense of belonging.

Main DJ - Kara Towner (aka mISSkARA)

Kara is a DJ, sound healer, and absolute dance fiend (you’ll see what we mean), with a deep passion for the transformative power of music. For over five years, she has guided people into states of joy, connection, and catharsis through dance, music, and sound experiences.

As the founder of DANCE TRIBE & Music Is Medicine, mISSkARA brings together the best of both worlds - underground club culture and conscious movement practices, to create spaces where people can dance freely, connect deeply, and feel truly alive. Her love of music, sound immersions, and her university training in Applied Science (Health Promotion) are now woven together to bring you this offering of dance, connection, and rejuvenation.

Beyond Dance Tribe, mISSkARA is an established DJ with a growing reputation for blending hypnotic beats with uplifting energy. Plus those dance moves behind the decks! Her work spans festival stages, intimate club nights, and immersive sound healing sessions, all with one mission: to remind people that Music IS Medicine.

Notice of Partial Moment Amateur Photography/Videography: There are many events held at Centre of You where no content is captured. The facilitator of this event however wishes to capture moments of this gathering for future marketing and community-sharing purposes. This will take place via their personal device captured by themselves or a representative. We recognise that being recorded can impact personal comfort and nervous system regulation and we want to honor your preferences. If you do not wish to have your image captured yet still wish to join, know that this is entirely possible at this event. Please speak with us at the door so we can honour your boundaries. If you’d like to review any footage captured at the conclusion of the event, you are most welcome to do so.

Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 2:45pm - 3:00pm. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 3:15pm. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.

Driving: Know Centre of You is on Chapel St and ample time to find a car spot is best to be factored into your plans. Park direct on Chapel St (spots unmetered after 5pm) or in Anchor Place, the open-air parking lot in the side street that runs opposite Centre of You (unmetered after 4pm).

Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).

Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.

Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via [email protected] or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.

Accessibility: At COY we aim to ensure our community and events are inclusive and accessible while alongside upholding the needs and responsibilities of our business and the businesses of our collaborating facilitators. Should you be in a time of financial challenge and unable to pay the full ticket price comfortably, please reach out via [email protected] or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram

Ticketing T&Cs: We get it, life happens, therefore we will gladly refund you up until 24hrs before the event start time. After that, we have a strict no refund/no transfer to future events policy.
