SESSION DESCRIPTION
At the October session, Attorneys Cris Houston and David Schleicher, will break down the latest on employment law developments.
While you were busy doing good, the U.S. Department of Labor increased salary requirements for exempt employees, the Texas Legislature made it easier to sue individual supervisors for certain kinds of discrimination, Congress expanded protections for pregnant workers, and the Supreme Court made it easier for employees to pursue a discrimination suit over a what the employer claimed was a lateral transfer.
The presenters will break down what these changes mean for the nonprofit sector moving forward.
PRESENTED BY
- Crisarla Houston is a Harvard law school graduate who has also taught law school classes, served as the Compliance and Equity Officer for one of Waco’s largest nonprofits, and is currently the CEO of a local nonprofit that helps disadvantaged small businesses obtain loans.
- David Schleicher is a former president of the Waco School Board and has among his non-profit clients Waco Habitat, Communities in Schools, Waco Family Medicine, Hispanic Leaders Network, the Farmer Veteran Coalition, and The Australian Shepherd Club of America.
