Contra Dance in Peterborough NH on Saturday Oct. 4th.This dance features calling by Liz Nelson with music from Windfish.
The dancing begins at 8:00 PM.
Workshop for dance basics at 7:30 PM.
Admission is sliding scale $12-20, $30 family, or pay what you can, or half your age!
This dance will use the role terms of larks and robins

Contra dance is a fun, easy style of folk dance which has flourished in New England since the 1700s. Partners form lines and dance a short sequence of steps with their neighbors. Over the course of the dance, each couple travels the length of the line and dances with every other couple. Dancers are welcome to bring a partner or a group of friends but it’s not necessary – traditionally, dancers are encouraged to change partners throughout the evening.
Liz Nelson is a dance caller residing in Western Massachusetts. She is well-known for her clear, concise teaching and warm, welcoming presence. She knows that everyone can dance and firmly believes “if you’re having fun and being safe, you’re doing it right!” Nothing delights her more than working with a group of enthusiastic, joyful dancers (no matter what age or experience level). facebook.com/liznelsondancecaller
Windfish is an instrumental duo/trio that plays, and plays with, dance music. Expect tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Cape Breton, New England, Québec, and some of their own compositions. They combine their love for tradition with a taste for experiment and invention. windfishband.com
