Oct 11 - Eddie Durham Jazz Festival • San Marcos TX** Celebrate the life and legacy of San Marcos native Eddie Durham — a musical trailblazer whose genius helped shape the swing era. As a visionary guitarist, trombonist, and arranger, Durham elevated the sounds of legends like Count Basie and Glenn Miller with songs like "Swingin' The Blues"and "In the Mood"and made history as the first to record an amplified guitar in the early 1930's. ** Come dance, listen or enjoy - Join us for a free outdoor concert in the neighborhood that raised him — with live music, community spirit, and a rhythm rooted in history. Starting at 11:30 am the first two band scheduled will bring you music to Swing Dance too.
