About these organisations:
This event is a fundraiser for Mountains to Sea Wellington. MTSW engages with local communities and schools to deliver freshwater + marine education programs and restoration projects. MTSW helps connect people to the environment and takes action to protect our moana <3 Check them out here: https://www.mountainstoseawellington.org/
Worser Bay Surf Life Saving Club is very generously supporting us with the use of their surf life saving club. They are a special part of the community and do awesome work helping keep our beaches safe and providing important life saving experience and training. I went to this club growing up and highly recommend them if you or your tamariki are interested in getting into Surf Life Saving :D
Equipment to bring:
Togs and towel (compulsory)
Warm clothing (compulsory)
Towfloat (highly recommended)
Whistle (highly recommended)
Wetsuit
Hot drinks
Hot water bottle
Snacks (can be personal or communal)
See posts in this facebook event to read the itinerary of what will be covered.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Worser Bay Surf Club has just had the floors in the hall redone, so everyone must enter the hall with dry and sand-free feet. To manage this, when we go outside at the beginning of the session we will be staying on the grass, and we won't be coming back into the hall after we go on the beach. The doors to the hall will be locked after our ocean session so please put your bags and gear inside the changing rooms when you first arrive at the session.
Worser Bay Surf Club has very generously given us the club space to use. If you can, please consider donating their way (details on the pinned post and survey link).
There will be changing rooms, toilets and showers provided at the club. Please keep showers to a minimum to save water to save costs to the club and also due to Wellington's current water shortage.
