The Ocean Drum is beautiful percussion instrument that puts the magic of the ocean in the hands of the player. Its peculiarity lies in its unique construction, which allows it to acoustically recreate the sounds of waves and tides.
From gentle waves rolling in to tidal waves crushing in a sea storm…..
Our drum will be extra large in size (50cm) and comes in natural goat hide which we will initiate with ocean water and activate with magic…water magic!
The way Ocean Drum is played is a meditation practice in itself….it is simply held by the frame and then tilted, rolled, or shaken to create very different sounds.
Gentle movements will bring soothing ocean sounds, while more intense movements conjure the roar of giant waves. You can also play the ocean drum by striking with the flat of the hand, the palm of the hand or individual fingers. All of which you will learn in this unique workshop.
You will need to bring your own lunch, however tea and coffee will be available. Please wear old clothes you don't mind getting paint on or wear an art smock ( is that what they are called? lol )
