At the University of Salford within occupational therapy we have a history of placing occupation at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that we practice in a diverse world and as a profession need to take steps to improve the diversity of our practice and workforce. We strive to ensure our teaching is theory-driven and evidence-informed whilst recognising that evidence comes in a variety of forms including the voices of experts by experience.
Our courses are underpinned by the four 'Golden Threads' (Occupation-centred, Inclusive, Evidence-Informed, Theory Driven) outlined above and so we would like to theme our conference submissions around these. More details about the threads and how they have informed our curriculum development is available here:
https://www.salford.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/occupational-therapy
Our conference themes are therefore as below:
Occupation centered practice
Inclusivity
Professional theory and evidence
We welcome abstracts from all areas of practice and all levels of practitioner, including students, that highlight occupational therapy practice, theory and/or research, and reflect one of our conference themes. You can submit in the following categories:
Poster Presentation - This would involve the production of an A1 sized portrait or landscape poster to be displayed in our exhibition space. Please note you would be responsible for the production costs of your poster. If you are a current student we may be able to subsidise this cost.
Presentation - This would involve presenting verbally at the conference for a 10 minute long slot (Around 8-10 slides). This would be followed by 5 mins for questions from the audience. Your presentation will be grouped with 1 - 2 other presentations to form a slot in the conference schedule. If you could only present in a particular time period please make this clear below.
Workshop - This would involve a longer conference session of 40 minutes which may involve audience interaction and participation. This may be more suitable where topics need to be covered in more depth tan a presentation.
If you have any ideas for slightly different categories that don't fit into the above please just submit in the most appropriate category for the time needed (Visual Display, 15 mins or 40 mins) and let us know the details in the abstract.
