About this Event
Join OCCNPS and the Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC)on a hike around the newest addition to OC Park’s natural open spaces, Red Rocks Wilderness. Located in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains and adjacent tomany iconic landmarks, Red Rocks Wilderness is quiteunique with its views and botanical sites.
Depending on rain conditions in the late winter, there should be the beginnings of early wildflowers popping up along with many perennial shrubs showing their spring green. If rain occurs leading up to this event, participants will be contacted, and it will be rescheduled for a later date (that is to be determined) in April/May.
Cost: Free.
Be advised that on top of OCCNPS registration an additional waiver for IRC will need to be signed by participants the morning of the hike.
Meet: 8 AM at the Augustine Staging Area in Limestone Canyon. Please be on time, as there is a gate that will be locked when we leave the parking lot.
Facilities: Bathroom in the parking lot. No drinking water.

Physical Difficulty: Trails are easy to moderate, but fully exposed with no shade. If you are heat/sun sensitive, please wear appropriate clothing and protection.
Duration: Approximately 4-4.5 miles lasting 2.5-3 hours.
Bring: water, sunscreen, wide-brimmed hat, hand lens, binoculars
