The Obsidian Mirror, Sacred Magic of the Black Tezcatlipoca
As we move into the liminal season, many of us are seeking ways to see past the veil of the ordinary and into the realms of the mysterious, the akashic, and the ancestral. We stand in the midst of a deep energetic and collective shift of eras, one that asks us to be more fully ourselves and bring our soul medicine forward into our everyday lives, aligning us with our true sense of self and purpose . With generations of oppression targeting those who expressed their intuitive gifts, this is far more easily said than done. To flower into the full expression of our soul code, we must cleanse the fear programming, self sabotage, control contracts, and trauma from our unconscious levels, and then seek to retrieve the lost pieces of soul and precious knowledge that have been hidden there. The Obsidian Mirror is a sacred instrument from ancient Mexica (Aztec) culture, representing the essence of the unconscious, of dreams, and of the hidden side of reality, known as The Black Tezcatlipoca.
With discipline, and by engaging the traditional seeing practices, the mirror can be used to create deep healing changes in the way that we think, dream, and create our lives on the unconscious level by unweaving the negative effects of our history, psyche, and lineage, in areas including:
our repetitive destructive patterns and addictions
self-limiting beliefs
ancestral patterns and generational trauma
the effects of trauma in our current and early lives
our sexual history
self-sabotage
disconnection from psychic gifts
low self esteem
ego entrapment
depression, anxiety, and other heavy emotions
soul loss, confusion, or numbness
energetic depletion
physical ailments
In addition to its healing applications, the mirror practices can open one to the realm of dreaming while awake, allowing for glimpses into the larger cosmic patterns, the akashic records of one's soul and ancestral history, and if used sparingly, prophetic visions of what may come.
This in person program will guide participants through the traditional teachings and historical context of the Obsidian Mirror, known as the nearly lost art of the Black Tezcatlipoca because the keepers of this knowledge were among the most persecuted in post colonial Mexico. This is a sorcery practice, requiring respect and dedication. The preservation of these teachings has come from the sacrifices of the ancestors of the tradition. Their devotion to passing down the knowledge, secretly through family lines, with the intention of sharing it with the world community at the dawn of the 6th sun, has provided a powerful gift for healing ourselves and navigating the predicted time of change we are currently living.
The program requires that participants allot 45 minutes to 1 hour of personal practice each evening for the mirror exercises. There will be 9 class meetings on Thursday evenings, at the Haven in San Anselmo, 7pm-9:45pm. Dates are listed below. Melusina is a curandera, ritualist, and interdisciplinary artist, whose healing arts offerings combine the principles and practices of Curanderismo and Nahualismo. Curanderismo is a traditional healing art from Mexico, which blends Indigenous wisdom with influences from Europe to address trauma and imbalance. Nahualismo is the Indigenous dreaming, healing, and sorcery tradition of ancient Mexico. Melusina has studied and practiced Indigenous healing techniques for over 20 years, and has applied these traditional methods to 1:1 healing sessions, workshops, public ritual, and healing groups within mental health facilities for survivors of trauma, abuse, neglect, mental illness and human trafficking. She currently has a private healing practice, directs a ritual theatre company, offers group courses in elements of the mystery tradition, offers tarot and oracle readings and full moon rituals, and works at the eleventh house in Fairfax. Her mission is to reconnect our changing era with ancestral wisdom, lineage reclamation, elemental animism, and practices for empowerment and deep healing.
