Nestled snugly in the southern portion of Mexico, Oaxaca continues to be a catalyst sparking the collective cultural heartbeat of our neighbors to the south. Beyond rich traditions and a notoriously vibrant art scene lies an area said to have first cultivated maize, thought to turn the Agave plant into smokey & irresistible bottlings of Mezcal, and to have staked its claim as the Gastronomic epicenter of a great nation settled well before the first drop of tea spilled off the dock stateside.
With his considerable Culinary acumen, Chef Sean Barger (Head Chef - Nationwide Arena) will be taking a break from feeding our beloved Columbus Blue Jackets and instead will turn his talents loose on those joining for dinner. Alongside his Oaxacan-born colleague and dear friend, Chef Arturo Sanchez-Cruz, Chef Barger and Co. aim to showcase 10 courses displaying the immense range of flavors and endless bounty of ingredients Oaxaca has become synonymous with throughout history. Think deep, complex moles, fresh tamales, all kinds of peppers, fine dark chocolates…
…and Mezcal, because it would truly be improper to try and celebrate such a significant culinary contributor without its most famous spirit making an appearance or three. But also tequilas, classic Mexican-inspired cocktails, and traditional drinks enjoyed daily throughout the storied Oaxacan streets.
The table is set alongside the date and we’re extremely excited to be sending this invitation. 10 exceedingly meticulous and distinctly Oaxacan courses & each carefully paired with drink so as to let Chef Barger’s creations handle the brunt of this particular culinary conversation.
