➫ Since April 2019, the Oakland Art Library has been bridging the gap between emerging artists + budding collectors by dismissing the old model of commission-based art sales + getting more art in the hands of Bay Area art lovers new + seasoned than most galleries can shake a frame at 🖼️

OAL started in Oakland and quickly grew beyond, and has since found its cozy + beautifully-lit home at Lumen Labs in West Berkeley.

➫ Lumen Labs is a combined art gallery/event space located in West Berkeley. Home to a group of new media artists who are constantly producing beautiful illuminated and interactive artwork, this is one of the last bastions of true independent artist residences in the Bay Area. Lumen is a venue dedicated to the advancement of maker culture, community living, and a hub for the visual arts. Lumen Labs' mission is to further art education and serve as an anchor for the light-art community in the Bay.

First: Show up to this event to get a feel for what we’re about. We get plenty of artists applying to show work with us without knowing what it is we’ve been building for the past half a decade. Feel it out, talk to us, then decide if this is a good fit for you!
