After a nearly year-long hiatus from our monthly art parties, the Oakland Art Library is back at Lumen Labs—with new + loved local artists to share + celebrate their artistry with YOU ?️

➫ In April 2019, Mike Hampton (@bartbridgeclothing + @mikehamptonart) had the brilliant idea to create a library of art by local artists where members are not only invited to borrow a piece of art for a month or two, but ALSO invited to the legendary monthly-ish OAL parties packed full of artists of all kinds

Mike + crew have put more art in the hands of Bay Area art lovers new + seasoned than most galleries can shake a frame at ?️

OAL started in Oakland and quickly grew beyond, and has since found its cozy + beautifully-lit home at Lumen Labs in Berkeley.

Now, to simplify things a bit in this wild world we're all in togetherwe're asking all members to return their beloved borrowed art pieces to OAL so the artists can switch them out + they can show their pieces at even more galleries and events!

➫ Lumen Labs is a combined art gallery/event space located in South Berkeley. Home to a group of new media artists who are constantly producing beautiful illuminated and interactive artwork, this is one of the last bastions of true independent artist residences in the Bay Area. Lumen is a venue dedicated to the advancement of maker culture, community living, and a hub for the visual arts. Our mission is to further art education and serve as an anchor for the light-art community in the Bay.
