The planned route distance is 10k but you can tailor this walk to suit your ability as any support is very much appreciated.
We will be walking from Oakfield, along the cycle path past the cyclopark, along to Spring River in Ebbsfleet (5k) where we will stop for a refreshment break and then head back to Oakfield completing the 10k walk.
Oakfield would like to bring all their patients, their staff and the local community together to raise awareness and encourage people to openly talk about their mental health to help reduce the misconceptions and stigma, and also to encourage those who are suffering to seek help.

‘Bals Wish’ My names Kiran and I am Bal’s daughter. I sadly lost my Mum in 2020 to suicide.
My Mum was an amazing giving person who would always put others before herself. I want my Mums legacy to live on and by raising money for a charity that will prevent someone else being in my Mums shoes and mine will be one way of making her proud 💛
I don’t want my Mums story to end where it did, so I want to encourage people to talk and if together we can change one persons mind frame then I would see the walk as a success. 💛

‘Share the weight’ was set up by Andy, who volunteers for Samaritans.
Andy carries a 24/7kg bag on his shoulders (called his bag of worries) to symbolise the invisible weight of life that we can all carry. It weighs 24/7kg to remind people Samaritans are there 24/7 for anyone struggling to cope. He takes his bag of worries everywhere (including running the London Marathon with it) and is on a mission to ask a million people to help Share the Weight. Through his campaign, Andy wants to open up conversations around mental health and suicide whilst showing that asking for help doesn’t make us weak or a burden, it makes us human.
Andy’s Daughter Rhiannon also joins her dad in this mission by carrying her own 5kg weight. She asks young people to help share the weight and show them it’s ok to ask for help and share the worries we carry.
Please help them share the weight!
