CITIZENS ACADEMY IS BACK!!!Oak Park Public Safety Department is offering a free 5-week class for the public which will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m.
Classes will start on Wednesday, May 7th and will run through June 4th.
This is for those citizens who would like a better understanding of the day-to-day operations of our public safety department. The academy teaches the public about law enforcement, firefighting, and medical first response.
Although the citizens academy is not intended to make Public Safety Officers out of the public, those who attend will learn a great deal about all phases of Public Safety.
The Citizen Academy is free for Oak Park residents 18 yrs. of age and older.
Classes will include:
- Patrol and Traffic Operations
- Detective Bureau and Investigations
- Police Equipment and Firearms
- Law and Criminal Procedures
- Use of force and officer safety
- Crime scene Investigations/Forensics
- Firefighting & Firetruck Operations
- Medical First Response
- Radio dispatch and 911 operations
