This FREE family friendly event offers guided walks, hands-on activities and a performance of the play And Who Shall Heal the Ground by Diana Pepetone. Bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy during the day, light snacks and drinks will be provided.During the morning we will have a variety of guided activities. Please note that most activities have two sessions 9AM-10:30AM or 11AM-12:30PM, these will be repeat sessions. Hands-on oak restoration will take place throughout the morning from 10AM-12PM. There will also be drop-in activities from 10AM-1PM which require no registration.
Activities include:
Nature Journaling: Visit an oak woodland affected by fire and enjoy observation through nature journaling with Robin Lee Carlson author of The Cold Canyon Fire Journals.
Birds of the Oak Woodlands: Join Chuck Vaughn of the Peregrine Chapter of the Audubon Society to listen for and observe our woodland birds.
Secrets of the Oak Woodlands Hike: Unveil the Secrets of the Oak Woodlands with author of the book Kate Marianchild.
Walk, Sit, Write: Haiku in the oak woodlands with Cathy Monroe.
Drop-in activities throughout the morning (10AM-1PM) include:

Oaks in Art Display. We are currently seeking submissions for this display, if you have a picture of a California Oak that you'd like to share please upload here by 9/14: https://bit.ly/oakart25
Oak Woodlands Storytelling (all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult).
Oak Woodlands Scavenger Hunt (all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult).
Using iNaturalist to get to know the oak woodlands.
From 2-3:30pm enjoy a performance of the play:

written and directed by Diana Pepetone.
The play allows us to see and hear from the many species who rely upon the oaks for their survival.
Community members including local school children have come together as the cast of this special performance.
Celebrate the iconic California Oak woodlands with the UC Hopland Research and Extension Center, Quercus Symbiosis Foundation and The Quercus Collaborative volunteer group!
