NFPA 1035 - PIO
Info: Program Title: NFPA 1035 Public Information Officer
Program Outline:
This course assists students to describe the key responsibilities of the Public Information Officer. Students will develop knowledge and skills necessary to perform the functions of a Public Information Officer. Students will develop and implement communications strategies effectively to the public, fire service, and the media.
Credit Status: This course meets all the requirements of Public Information Officer defined in Chapter 7 of the NFPA 1035 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire and Life Safety Educator, Public Information officer, and Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist β 2015 Edition.
Prerequisites: Members of Ontario municipal fire department
Recommended Skills/Knowledge: Fire department experience in public education, fire prevention, or fire suppression
