About this Event

Join artist Kinkle for an engaging talk on the vital role creativity plays in shaping a meaningful life. The Importance of Creation explores how the act of creating allows us to better understand ourselves, unlock new possibilities, and move toward the life we truly desire.

Through personal insight and reflection, Kinkle examines how neglecting creativity can lead to a stagnant, unexpressed existence—and how reconnecting with it can transform the way we think, act, and live.

This intimate talk offers a deeper conceptual layer to O God My Heart is Ready, inviting attendees to reflect on their own relationship with creation.

Free entry with RSVP. Donations accepted at the door.

Exhibition Runs 7/31/26 – 8/9/26

Exhibition Statement:

“O God My Heart is Ready” is a reflection of my life, representing both the genesis and the ethos of my photographic practice. This body of work is rooted in preserving the fleeting moments of my day-to-day life that may have otherwise been forgotten, while also revealing the intimacy of my everyday existence.

I am drawn to the idea that my life holds significance, and photography allows me to share that essence with the world. I have viewed my life as a poetic since its origin; less than twenty-four hours before I was born, my mother was robbed at gunpoint. Because of this, I constantly remind myself that there exists a timeline in which I do not exist. Therefore, I must lead a life worth remembering. I feel both convicted and obligated to share the gifts that I have been given with the world, and capturing both mundane and monumental moments in a poetic manner is the offering this body of work embodies.

This exhibition symbolizes a moment of arrival for both myself and the viewer. It marks my decision to take on the role of a working artist, having quietly created and protected this foundational body of work during its inception. Equally, offering space for the audience to realize the importance of creation without expectations. Rather, to create out of necessity than validation.

Captured between 2022 and 2025, these stills are deeply rooted in intimate, personal moments that I did not care to share with the world at the time. That changed after I exhibited in my first group show, where I realized that embracing my voice was essential to building the life I envisioned.

“O God My Heart is Ready” represents the manifestation of this commitment. The embodiment of fully devoting myself to the work that began as an act of saving myself and allowing it to unfold into a life led and sustained by creation.

“Don’t be seduced into thinking that which does not make a profit is without value.” – Arthur Miller

Accessibility Info: The Callanwolde Gallery, located on the second floor of the Callanwolde Mansion, welcomes all visitors. Our parking lot is at the back of the property, a short distance from the mansion. You are welcome to drop off passengers at our portico entrance.

Both stairs and a ramp provide entry to the Mansion, and an elevator is available behind the first-floor library room for those who wish to use it. The elevator opens to an office connected directly to the Gallery space.

We do not have Wheelchairs available for use.

Multi-Stall Restrooms are behind the grand staircase on the first floor, and a single stall restroom is through Studio B in the gallery space upstairs. Service animals are welcome.

Seating options are available upon request.

For additional assistance or specific needs, please contact us at [email protected] We are dedicated to ensuring everyone can enjoy the artistic offerings at Callanwolde.

Gallery Info: The Gallery holds four to five exhibitions per year of emerging, mid-career, and established professional artists’ work, including juried group exhibitions and collaborations with other area arts collectives and non-profits whose mission aligns with our own. We show original paintings, collage, photography, textiles, pottery, printmaking, sculpture, mixed and multi-media works.

As Callanwolde is an educational institution, the Gallery offers workshops, artist talks, and interactive presentations about contemporary art during community events and school field trips. Many of the students that visit Callanwolde attend schools that receive Title I and Title III funding and are often lacking in arts enrichment opportunities.

The gallery space currently houses several Callanwolde dance classes, Summer camp classes, an annual holiday artists market, and serves as getting ready spaces for wedding parties who rent the venue for their ceremony and reception.

Arts For All

Since 1972, Callanwolde has been a significant presence in Atlanta’s arts community. Our 100-year-old campus is an inspiring place for students to learn, create, exhibit, and perform. We serve over 12,000 people each year through classes, performances, community engagement, gallery exhibitions, artist markets, and historic tours. Callanwolde provides high-quality classes in ceramics, textiles, dance, jewelry making, photography, painting and drawing, creative writing, and media craft. Our programs attract students of all ages, races, income levels, and abilities.

At the end of 2021, Callanwolde updated its mission to include increased support for underserved communities. We now provide free programing to students who qualify for Title I and Title III funding, veterans who live with PTSD, previously homeless adults and families, adults born with behavioral challenges, and low-income seniors.

Callanwolde provides access to art-making equipment and space for artists who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Our ceramics department has five gas kilns, seven electric kilns, and 25 throwing wheels. Our weaving department has 12 looms. Our campus touts an 850-square-foot Jewelry studio, 3,000 square feet of dance space, and a photography darkroom.

In addition to our art-making facilities, our 12-acre property features formal and natural gardens, a 550-seat amphitheater, and nature trails.

Callanwolde enriches lives by helping students learn and improve artistic skills in a supportive community. Our students gain knowledge that helps them succeed in their professional and vocational practices and engage in self-care.
