The choirs of First United Methodist Church, 1610 Prince Street, Conway will offer the annual Advent Lessons and Carols service on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Advent Lessons and Carols is a worship service of word and song in preparation for Christmas. Through congregational hymns, carols, lessons from Scripture, and choral anthems we learn of the coming Messiah, the promised one of ages. The service, entitled “O Day of Peace” includes musical works by Daniel Kantor, Thomas Forster, Kerensa Briggs, Lynn Bailey, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Charles H. H. Parry, Igor Stravinsky, John Stainer, and Denis Bédard along with many favorite hymns of the Advent season. Joining the FUMC Chancel Choir will be violinist Andrew Irvin, co-concert master of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Hymns and anthems will be accompanied at the church’s Otto Hofmann pipe organ by Betty Cohen, organist emerita and by director of music Jason Saugey. All are invited to attend this special service recounting the good news of our salvation. Advent Lessons and Carols is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, please contact Jason Saugey, FUMC Director of Music and Worship Ministries ([email protected]).
