NYSWA’s inaugural Centennial Exhibition

Reflections on Progress

A celebration of Legacy and Vision opens at the Interchurch Center Gallery NYC

In homage to its centennial milestone (1925-2025) The New York Society of Women Artists (NYSWA) is proud to announce the opening of Reflections on Progress: 100 Years of the New York Society of Women Artists opening on March 14 2025 at the Interchurch Center Gallery in New York City. Launching during Women’s History Month this landmark exhibition commences a year-long program of Centennial events for NYSWA. The exhibition vividly explores the evolving identity of women artists and the on-going fight for gender equity social justice inclusion and environmental awareness.

NYSWA holds the rare record of longevity – One Hundred years- championing the rights of women artists.

Reflections on Progress features 45 works from both the Society's founding members and the diverse multi-generational contemporary NYSWA members. Both two and three-dimensional mediums will be displayed in the Treasure Room and throughout the Interchurch Center Gallery’s main lobby.

Founded in 1925 by a pioneering group of Women artists in NYC NYSWA has dedicated a century advocating for equality in visibility and recognition in the art world. By juxtaposing historical pieces alongside the works of current NYSWA members a dynamic dialogue is contemporized between the past and present. During this exhibition symposiums and encounters open to the public will give voice and visibility to NYSWA’s mission.

Reflections on Progress asks the essential: “Have the struggles for gender equity intersectionality social justice and environmental sustainability evolved?” Questioning the status quo on issues that resonate today just as they did in 1925 when NYSWA was founded.
