This upcoming ItAG Season we will be offering one Inquiry to Action Group titled:
Abbott Elementary as Text: Policy, Practice, and Pedagogical Possibility
In this Inquiry to Action group, Abbott Elementary becomes our primary text. Together, we will watch and analyze selected episodes to explore how the show represents teaching, schooling, policy, and power in public education. We’ll connect storylines to education theories and policies and together, we’ll explore what the show gets right, what remains constrained by existing systems, and how education might look if we dared to imagine beyond those limits. We will use Abbott Elementary as a springboard to imagine more liberatory educational futures—potentially culminating in a hypothetical episode and/or the creation of an accompanying educator’s guide designed to support teachers in critically engaging with the show. We shall see!
