About this Event
About this Workshop:
Join Shawne Cooper for a one-of-a-kind sketching workshop that blends art with a culinary adventure. We’ll explore the vibrant food scene of Flushing, Queens, stopping at a variety of Chinese eateries—each offering sustenance for our sketchbooks and our stomachs. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, Shawne will guide you in capturing the colors, textures, and energy of each delight, quickly and dynamically. It’s a chance to savor each bite and translate the experience onto the page. Come hungry for good food, creative fun, and community!
By the end of this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Capture the basic shapes of different food and drink items quickly, using minimal Iines
- Be able to plan out food sketches of your meals, without starving–or annoying dining companions
- Layer and texture these sketches with mixed media to represent layers and textures
- Build on your sketchbook pages, from one food item at a time
- Get cooking with recipes for seasoning your sketches, drizzling sauces, and showing steam
Note:In addition to the workshop price, participants will buy the food that they choose to eat (& draw); sharing is encouraged.
