Join NYC Poets Afloat for our fifth annual group poetry reading aboard the tall ship Wavertree at the South Street Seaport Museum! 5.19.24, 2-4 pm.
Nine poets are spending time in micro-residencies aboard ships in New York Harbor, musing and writing poetry while afloat. Now, they come together to share their poetry in a group reading on deck! Poets include: Jared Beloff, Jenna Cardinale, Carla M. Cherry, danilo machado, DL Newton, Malvika Jolly, J. Freeborn, Mark Wunderlich, and Steven Alvarez.
Register here and plan to check in with South Street Seaport Museum staff at the red tent on Manhattan's Pier 16 before boarding Wavertree on Manhattan's Pier 16 before attending the event. Please consider adding a donation to your registration to support several of the hosting vessels/organizations around the harbor: Waterfront Barge Museum, Lilac Preservation Project, PortSide New York, NY Media Boat, Sail Rockaway, South Street Seaport Museum, South Amboy Ferry (NY Waterway), and the Free Spirit in City Island.
Free General Admission to the South Street Seaport Museum is included in your registration for the NYC Poets Afloat group reading! Before and after the program, participants are invited to explore the 1885 tall ship Wavertree, three gallery exhibitions at 12 Fulton Street, and add a guided tour of the 1908 lightship Ambrose to your visit.
