The New York Blood Center (NYBC) has declared a blood emergency for all types of blood and platelets.…
• This blood emergency is being declared due to less than a 1–2 day supply of critical blood types across the region.
• Platelets are very fragile, short-lived blood cells that are essential for normal blood clotting. They must be transfused within seven days of donation, which means they are always needed to ensure availability for hospitals every day.
PLEASE Give the Gift of Life… Just 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives!
Blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, blood disorders and traumatic injuries.
