About this Event
This tour of Northwest Pasadena, focused on the Monk Hill area, will showcase the many important historical and cultural sites of this vibrant community and will also recognize the places that have been lost over time. Participants will learn about the origins of the neighborhood and the many businesses and institutions that have served local residents and visitors, see the historical landmarks that are peppered throughout the area, and understand how redevelopment efforts of the 1960s and 1970s changed its character. The route will traverse paved City sidewalks; however, the area is moderately sloping and portions may be challenging for those with mobility impairments. This tour is a component of the Historic Places Pasadena: Completing Our Story Project; we encourage everyone that participates to share your stories about the events, people and places that are important to you!
Total distance is approximately 2 miles.
We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes, sunblock, and a hat. We also recommend that you bring water and a snack.
Please register in advance to help us anticipate the number of attendees.
This event is part of Walktober Pasadena 2024, made possible by the City of Pasadena Department of Transportation.
