Nutty gives their farewell salute to The Write-Off Room on its final Thursday night, 1/16/25, bringing their unique sound they call “Jetsetter Jazz”, weaving iconic classic rock songs with straight-ahead jazz, big band, Latin, lounge and film/TV themes, to create ingenious re-arrangements that swing hard and boggle the mind. Irreverent humor, sass and spontaneity make their shows engaging and fun, and the dark suits, skinny ties and pocket squares enhance their retro vibe. But the music is the clincher. There’s nothing else like it anywhere.

Their arrangements are chock full of impossible pairings of rock and jazz songs and quotes that somehow sound like they were meant to be together. Think Hendrix and Mancini, The Moody Blues and Dave Brubeck, The Police and Dizzy Gillespie, The Who and Miles Davis, Bossa Nova Black Sabbath, Van Halen Cha-Cha, Jethro Tull with the “Mission Impossible” theme, Alice Cooper with the “Flintstones”/ ”Jetsons” themes… and like that.

Don Heckman of the LA Times calls Nutty “A one-of-a-kind band with a swinging, old school Vegas swagger,” James Nadal from All About Jazz dubs it “A cunning approach with immediate appeal,” and LA Jazz Scene’s Scott Yanow says, “The music is as memorable as it is unique.”

Featuring swank front man, Sonny Moon, Nutty takes you on a strange trip inside a musical time machine, leaving rock and jazz fans collectively demystifying the songs as they snap their fingers and bob their heads.
