Looking to build sustainable habits that nourish your body throughout the year? Join Grow Cook Learn for an engaging, hands-on workshop at Reimagine Co. in London, Ontario!Instead of focusing on short-lived resolutions, we will explore the 2019 Canada’s Food Guide and discuss realistic, manageable ways to integrate healthy choices into the lifestyle you are already building. Together, we’ll put these concepts into practise by prepping vibrant salads and protein-packed sandwiches using the "plate method" for a balanced, satisfying meal.
Date: Wednesday, January 14
Time: Doors open at 5:45 PM, workshop begins at 6:00 PM
Location: Reimagine Co., London, Ontario – https://reimagineco.ca
What You’ll Experience
- Meet Your Community & Connect: Kick off the workshop with a fun icebreaker to get to know your fellow attendees and connect with community members.
- Nutrition Literacy & Realistic Transitions: We will discover the 2019 Canada’s Food Guide and discuss practical, everyday ways to transition into a more nutritious and healthy lifestyle.
- The Plate Method Preparation: After receiving your recipes, we will break into groups to assemble sandwiches and salads that represent the "plate method." We’ll use fresh ingredients like lettuce, onion, tomato, bell pepper, and cucumber, alongside smoked tofu, hummus, and a maple-cinnamon-peanut spread with sliced banana.
- Shared Dining & Social: We’ll sit down to enjoy our creations together, allowing for social time and discussion about the evening's topics.
- Wrap-Up & Community Care: We will conclude by distributing any extra portions or ingredients, disposing of compost, and bringing dishes to the dish pit as a group.
