Your Food, Your Gut, and Your Performance
Maximize Your Health With a Food Prescription
with Nancy Feiwel, M.D.
Optimal health requires you know what foods to avoid in the short term and how best to nourish yourself in the long-term. Medicine has made so many advances and while we know nutrition plays a large role in our overall well-being, we need to go beyond the basics of healthy eating to effectively heal ourselves today and prevent illness in the future.
Do you find you generally follow a healthy diet and still feel like something is off? Stomach aches, diarrhea, indigestion, low energy, joint pain: a partial list of symptoms emblematic of your body unhappy with the foods you are consuming. It is counterintuitive, but healthy food – including those wonderfully nutrient-rich vegetables and fruits – can cause an inflammatory response in your body. When that happens, those healthy foods are, in fact, harming your body.
During this workshop we will explore food sensitivities and inflammation focusing on how you can effectively lower inflammation through personalized dietary intervention. This workshop will include a handout to begin your journey in steps to discover tools available to assess foods that may be harming your body. A symptom survey will be provided and examples of side-by-side patient lab results will be reviewed for discussion. You will learn that specific food can be prescribed to treat the underlying cause of your symptoms. Side effects include weight loss, clear skin, and improved mood.
