Nutrition literacy, or food literacy, is important because it helps people make informed decisions about their food choices and eating habits, which can improve their health and well-being.It is also very important to connect individuals and families with children to available community resources. Community resources can make a big difference in your ability to make it through hard times. Community resources can be essential in helping people access assistance and expand their range of outlets of support to meet their needs.
In collaboration and partnership with the Niagara County Department of Health, DFOWW Incorporated (Daphany's Fabulous Objective Weekly Workshops) cordially invites you to attend The Nutrition Literacy and Community Resource Workshop.
The event is free and open to the public. We will be serving free catered lunch from Carrabba’s Italian Grill restaurant. Vegetarian meal options will be available. There will be a variety of vendors attending and presenting from nonprofit organizations, local entrepreneurs, and community leaders, providing information along with free resources for those in need. Additionally, the event will feature:
* Free health care screenings
* Free fun activities for children and youth
* Free give-a-ways
* Raffle contest for a $200 Nike gift card ($5 per ticket or $11 for 3 raffle tickets).
* Indoor and outdoor plant and flower fundraiser
Special guest and speakers include dignitaries, Niagara Falls High School District Superintendent Mr. Mark Laurrie, and Niagara Falls Mayor Mr. Robert Restaino.
