Surprise!!!We present you with our first event since before lockdown, and boy is this a good one!
Come along to Ouseburn community centre on Saturday the 18th of May to learn about creative exchange between lead and follow in lindy hop. We will focus on using compression and tension in your favourite lindy figures to connnect with your partner, yourself, and the music you're dancing to. We will also have a lesson on solo jazz - join us to tuck behind your belt some cool things to do in breakaways, jam circles, and when vibing to the music on your own! Finally, we will be joined in the evening by the fabulous Magpies of Swing who will play a live set for our social dance to wrap up the day in style.
Most importantly, however, this is no regular workshop - your £5 ticket will cover the whole day of dancing and entertainment, and 100% of the money will be donated to a mental health charity to celebrate mental health awareness week 2024 and remember about the often invisible hardship of mental illness.
As a society, we are acutely aware of the financial difficulties faced by students during the cost of living crisis - therefore, we have decided to make this event completely FREE to attend for all of our members. However, if you are struggling with money and are not officially part of the society, message us and we will make sure you can also access it free of charge.
Stay tuned for info about teachers, class times, and fundraising :)
