After a long break Jill & myself are so so excited to welcome you to an afternoon of Yin Yoga and Sound Bath where we can create a sacred space for you to rest, relax and gift yourself a few hours of self care! Enjoy a morning of deep relaxation surrounded by aromas of essential oils and concluded by nourishing for the body and soul Soundbath.

The session is themed around Menopause. We will be exploring the ways to help you transition through this challenging yet exciting time! If you aren't going through this period of Second Spring you will still rip a lot of benefits from the practice!

Menopausal years are part of transitioning into something different. Given the right ingredients we can make this one of our greatest achievements. We hear the word 'menopause' and we think of all the negative symptoms. We resist, fight, cling on to what we know, we want to do things the way we’ve always done them; we give them so much focus, and we know that where our focus goes our energy flows! However we can honour ourselves and give permission to slow down and take a different route.

From a Chinese medicine point of view menopausal symptoms are around the factor of heat. Hot flushes, headaches, restlessness, irritability, anger, elation, and itchy skin. When Yin is deficient Yang takes over, so we will be focusing on restoring the balance of Yin and Yang throughout the practice.

Yin yoga can be a wonderful practice for women going through menopause, as it can help alleviate some of the common symptoms associated with this stage of life. The slow, gentle nature of Yin yoga allows for deep stretching and relaxation, which can help with reducing stress, improving sleep, and managing hot flashes.

Here are some key benefits of Yin yoga for menopause:

1. Stress relief: Yin yoga encourages deep breathing and relaxation, which can help reduce stress and anxiety levels that may be heightened during menopause.

2. Hormonal balance: Yin yoga helps stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which in turn can support hormonal balance during menopause.

Sound baths offer a natural remedy for menopausal symptoms by giving you time to be in your own space, a time for self reflection. A time to slow down. A time to replenish your Yin.

Sound baths give an opportunity to bring balance into your life. Gives you a chance to have some relaxing calm headspace.
They can bring improved sleep, increased energy and promotes a greater sense of wellbeing.

Yin yoga & sound baths are an excellent combination for menopause.

We will start with an hour of Yin Yoga & Mindfulness with its long held postured to distress, release, restore & unwind. The session will conclude with an hour of Sound Bath - an immersion in sounds and vibrations that are healing for your body, mind and soul.

There are no standing postures - the whole practice is a combination of seated & lying down asanas.

Please bring your own mat and whatever props you think you might need for the practice (yoga blocks, bolsters, cushions, blankets, yoga straps etc).

Yin postures are held from a couple of minutes to sometimes 3-5 minutes each. Being mindful in a posture for such a long time will not only have a calming and restorative effect, but will also aid in relaxing and releasing all the tight areas in the body.

It is a very meditative experience as well: staying in a posture for a long period of time and being aware of your breath calms your brain and relaxes your nervous system switching it to a parasympathetic mode.

Yin Yoga is a great pathway for all those new to the Practice to start on their Yoga journey as well as for all those who have been practicing Yoga for a while.
