Join NSCC Music Arts students in the program's Eclectic Chamber Orchestra (ECO), Latin Ensemble and Choir for an afternoon of amazing performances. The Choir will end the show playing some of your favourite tunes, including songs from Toto and Queen!
The Eclectic Chamber Orchestra (or ECO, for short) is a band that defies definition. This 13-piece powerhouse ensemble isn’t your typical band. With a smooth horn section and an unbeatable rhythm section. Get ready for a thrilling musical journey where tradition meets surprise. They will have you tapping your toes to timeless melodies and swooning over reimagined contemporary hits. ECO brings a fresh and unexpected sound to every stage.
NSCC’s Latin band ‘Groovera’ pulls from the stylings of Latin music classics, exciting audiences with lively and upbeat arrangements of Latin legends and by the ensemble’s fearless leader, Jeff Goodspeed. Groovera is sure to get you up on your feet and dancing in no time.
Sunset Hour is a fun-time and rich harmony filled choir singing all your favorite 70s-90s hits and show tunes. With their 4-8 part harmony, good vibes and clear tone you’re sure to find all kinds of enjoyment just sitting back, relaxing and listening.Starting out in the NSCC music room, this choir has grown both as singers and as a group working together to create the best choral versions of your favorite songs, singing from the heart for 2 years strong!
This show is part of NOVAFest, a month-long music festival held at venues across Halifax and Dartmouth, running April 23 to May 23 in 2024.
This year’s NOVAFest will be bigger and bolder than ever, featuring headlining acts: The Mellotones, Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound, Acid Wash, WolfCastle, Kayo, aRENYE, BASYL, CJ Bissett, Andre Pettipas, Allen Snow, The James Shaw Quartet, Noel Morgan and the Salty Groove, and Origami Workshop. Many of these talented, wave-making artists can trace the roots of their careers back to NSCC’s music programs, the origin of this festival.
NOVAFest is organized by and showcases the talents of NSCC Ivany Campus students from the Music Arts, Music Production and Engineering, and Music Business programs. The festival provides a platform for these emerging artists, performers, and industry professionals to showcase the skills and talents by organizing, operating and opening for the festival.
