This is the 5th in the series of 6 monthly bike rides in 2024 by NRHT, Inc. to see firsthand the status of the various open sections of the cross-state National Road Heritage Trail & enjoy each section's local culture. The August ride will cover 22-40 miles, including Indy Greenways trails, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail & the Cumberland and Hancock County Pennsy Trails combined to form the NRHT route between downtown Indy & western Hancock County. Please note that riders participate at their own risk & minors must be accompanied by an adult responsible for them.The group will meet at 9:00 AM on August 17 on the Pennsy Trail in Irvington on Bonna Ave, then ride east on the Indy, Cumberland, and Hancock County Pennsy Trails to CR 400 W. After that 22-mile round trip, the group will ride west on the Pleasant Run Trail and the Indianapolis Cultural Trail to Fountain Square & across downtown to the White River and zoo, including stops at 4 Historic National Road Interpretive Panels downtown for an additional 18 miles round trip. There are several convenient options for food &/or drink in Irvington and near Fountain Square.
Meeting point: On the trail across the street from 5547 Bonna Ave, Indianapolis. The closest parking is on-street along Bonna Ave & some on Audubon Rd. The parking on Bonna Ave is on the westbound side, so it is best approached from Audobon Rd.
