NRCan | A New Approach to Mechanical Systems Design & Planning
New housing is changing and with improved envelopes comes additional challenges around system sizing, duct work, reduced heating loads, and increased cooling loads. Often, the mechanical system or the mechanical contractor get blamed for a lack of integrated design process and planning for the mechanical system of structure in a new build.
Join us at the Red Deer Polytechnic to learn about “Master Planning and Decision Guide for Mechanical Systems” as well as the new application you can use when discussing quotes with new home builders to lead to better outcomes and to mitigate risk from planning steps being skipped.
The workshop consist of a ~2.5h session that includes:
- Opening Remarks
- A technical presentation, outlining challenges & best practices in mechanical system design in the context of a regional case study home
- A demonstration of a newly developed NRCan app (Master Planning and Decision App & Tool for Mechanical Systems) that enables contractors to address these challenges
- Potential manufacturer presentations on costed solutions to a technical challenge posed in the workshop.
Takeaways include:
- Incremental solutions for new homes (13 pre-design decisions plus discussion of issues)
- Equipping designers/contractors with ‘permission’ to proceed with “better-fit” designs
- Become an industry leader in the use of a new Mechanical HVAC Design & Decision making tool
Network with mechanical designers/installers, builders, suppliers, and industry peers to share learnings and best practices for duct systems and heating equipment. This is the last event to be hosted in Regina so don't miss out!
Target Audience:
- Mechanical HVAC Designers, Mechanical HVAC installers, Builders, Suppliers, Residential Contractors etc.
Parking is free and light breakfast provided.
