NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME CLASS -LEVEL I - PART II
This course is part 2 of 2 for NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME LEVEL 1 CLASS - PART II. We will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. This course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.
PREREQUISITES:
This course is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm as defined by applicable
■ Federal law
■ State law
■ Local law
■ Are of good repute
■ Possess defensive pistol skills presented in the NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home Course.
■ Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and
■ Must know and observe not only general gun safety rules.
■ Also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations.
■ Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing:
■ ■ NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course Certificate, or
■ By passing the pre-course evaluation - Conducted in our:
■ ■ South Dakota Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed Class
■ ■ NRA Defensive Pistol I class.
■ ■ SUCCESSFULLY - COMPLETED - NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION outside the HOME - LEVEL I - PART I
- - - With in 12 months from the date of successfully completing PPotH - LEVEL I - PART I, attend PPotH - LEVEL I - PART II
This class is the prerequisite class to attend our other defensive pistol classes such as
■ NRA Personal Protection outside the Home - Level II - Part III
While attending this course students will learn about:
■ The general rights and restrictions under laws permitting the carrying of concealed pistols for self-defense. III-III
■ Key legal provisions and restrictions pertaining to the use of deadly force outside the home. III-III
■ Explain potential criminal and civil legal actions that may be taken subsequent to a defensive encounter outside the home. III-III
■ Where the students may find detailed legal information for their specific jurisdiction. III-III
■ Basic principles of pistol concealment as they relate to the carrying of a pistol for self-defense outside the home. IV-IV
■ The various pistol concealed carry modes and the benefits and limitations of each. IV-IV
■ How to safely presenting/drawing concealed pistol and reholstering. V-V
■ Moving off the line of attack/drawing concealed pistol and reholstering. V-V
■ Moving to cover / firing from high barricade position. V-V
■ Engaging two targets at the same time. VI-VI
■ Use aimed fire technique with the dominant hand only. VI-VI
■ Using point shooting technique with two hands. VI-VI
■ Using point shooting technique with the dominant hand only. VI-VI
■ Course Review and take NRA Personal Protection outside the Home written Test. IX
NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME CLASS.
NRA PPOTH Class - consists of:
■ NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME LEVEL I - PART I (5/6 hours)
NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME LEVEL I - PART II (5/6 hours)
■ NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME LEVEL II - PART III (5/6 hours)
Students pursuing their NRA Personal Protection outside the Home Certificate(s), need to complete:
■ NRA PPOTH LEVEL I - PART I & PART II
■ ■ With in one 12 month period to receive completion certificate for this class.

+++++ South Dakota Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed Certificate
+++++ New Applicant - South Dakota Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed Certificate
+++++ Renewal Certificate for Current - South Dakota Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed Certificate
■ NRA PPOTH LEVEL II - PART III
■ ■ With in one 12 month period to receive completion certificate for this class.
******THIS CLASS HAS EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS ****** STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BE IN COMPLIANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN DRY-FIRE AND LIVE FIRE DRILLS.******
