About this Event
This NRA Certified Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for the protection of self and family inside the home, and provides information on the law-abiding individual's right to self-defense.
During this course, students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, defensive pistol ammunition types, safe storage of firearms in the home, strategies for home safety and home defense preparation, responding to violent confrontations, and home invasion prevention techniques.
You should bring your primary defensive firearm (no shotguns or rifles) and at least 150 rounds of good quality factory target ammunition for that firearm. Please limit firearm and ammunition choices to between .22 caliber and .45 caliber. Also, bring two (2) or more magazines or speed loaders for that firearm to be used for the live-fire exercise on the range. A good quality strong-side hip holster is a requirement for this class. No inside waistband holsters. All firearms should be unloaded and cased. All firearms must be inspected by the Instructor prior to use on the range and the Instructor reserves the right to reject any firearm that is determined to be unsafe for use.
There are three major components to the course: a classroom component, a written examination, and a live-fire handgun range component. To successfully complete the course, students must attend the classroom portion, complete a short written examination based on the lesson material, and successfully qualify during the live-fire portion of the course.
This course is held on a Saturday and runs from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The cost for the course is $149.00. We need a minimum of three students to conduct the course.
