Course is taught by a dynamic Training Counselor and training team. Instructor candidates will learn to teach the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to training and supervising NRA Range Safety Officers and developing range standard operating procedures. Prerequisite: Must be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. Course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training (2/13/26) and NRA Chief Range Safety Officer training (2/15/26). Sessions include standard operating procedures, inspections, emergency procedures, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, safety briefings. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises and complete an open book exam. Students will receive NRA Basic RSO lesson plans and CRSO Patch upon successful completion. If you have a BIT date of 24 months or less, deduct the $100.00 BIT fee and you will not need to attend on day one of training (2/13/26).
